Road Improvement Project Scheduled for Scenic Drive and Michillinda Road in Fruitland Township

Muskegon County, MI — The Muskegon County Road Commission, in cooperation with the Michigan Department of Transportation, has scheduled a road improvement project in Fruitland Township on the following road segments:

• Scenic Drive from South Shore Drive to Michillinda Road
• Michillinda Road from Scenic Drive to Zellar Road

Work is expected to begin on or after June 30, 2025, with an anticipated completion date on or before July 25, 2025. The project will be completed by Michigan Paving and Materials Company. The 3.57-mile project will include hot mix asphalt cold milling and resurfacing, aggregate shoulders, driveway approach restoration, and new pavement markings.

During construction, two-way traffic will be maintained in one lane with flaggers, though non-local traffic is encouraged to seek alternate routes. Residents will generally have access to their homes, though some delays may occur depending on the location of work activities.

Residents with concrete driveways should be aware that access may be temporarily restricted while new concrete cures during driveway restoration. Road Commission staff will coordinate with impacted property owners regarding access needs.

Additionally, if mailboxes need to be temporarily relocated, the Road Commission will notify affected residents by letter.
